ARTIST WORKSHOPS

Algonquin Provincial Park has been a major cornerstone in the history of Canadian art. In the early 20th century, a group of young painters travelled to the Park by train to paint the spectacular vistas of the Algonquin highlands. The young artists were dubbed by the media the "Algonquin School of Painters" and included Tom Thomson, A.Y. Jackson, J.E.H. MacDonald, and other future members of the Group of Seven. These artists established a tradition of painting in the Canadian wilderness which would inspire a number of different artists in the years to come.

The Algonquin Art Centre aims to develop this tradition in new and exciting ways by organizing art workshops in the heart of Algonquin Provincial Park. The workshops are designed for people of all different skill levels and includes instruction from some of Canada's foremost landscape and wildlife artists.
