Painted Birch Bark Canoes Family Art Activity

ART PROGRAMS

Fostering creativity is a significant part of the Algonquin Art Centre, and we achieve this by organizing a number of art workshops, art demos, and family art activities to encourage our visitors to discover the artist within. Whether advanced art lessons with some of Canada’s most talented artists, or an afternoon filled with art activities for both adults and children, the Algonquin Art Centre offers something for everyone.

Our beautiful surroundings provide much inspiration and subject matter for visitors to try their own hand at art, and we offer a number of daily art activities for families and visitors to experience nature through art. Whether you need a break from the campsite, shelter from rain, or just need a fun way to spend a morning or afternoon, the Algonquin Art Centre is the perfect place to get away. So come, grab a coffee, juice, or snack, and enjoy one of the many activities we have to offer.

Our activities are easily adapted to all skill levels from the novice to the expert. If you are traveling to Algonquin Park on vacation, you need not worry about bringing any art tools or supplies. We provide everything you will need.

Instructed Artist Workshops
Algonquin Provincial Park has been a major cornerstone in the history of Canadian art. In the early 20th century, a group of young painters would travel to the Park by train to paint the spectacular vistas of the Algonquin highlands. The Algonquin Art Centre aims to develop this tradition in new and exciting ways by organizing art workshops in the heart of Algonquin Provincial Park. The workshops are designed for people of all different skill levels and includes instruction from some of Canada's foremost landscape and wildlife artists. Please check our schedule for more information.

Instructed art classes present the opportunity to unleash your inner artist. We have classes for kids, for adults, and classes for the whole family; among our most popular are painting, making dream catchers, building pebble mosaics, beading, tracking art through nature and many other creative combinations. (see schedule)

Live Art Demonstrations
Rock Painting Family Art ActivityThe Algonquin Art Centre is delighted to host some of their world-class artists as they come and demonstrate their skill. We’d like to cordially invite you to come and meet these artists as they paint on-site and discuss their works. Please check our schedule for artist visits.
